NEW! Our new line X-Back Unfinished Chairs

Unfinished X-Back Chair (American Made!)

By FAR our most popular chairs have been the X-Back style imported from Europe.

Unfortunately, our suppliers were no longer able to import which left us only with X-back chairs imported from Vietnam and China. We tried them, but the quality was lacking.

After working through design and production details, we are thrilled to be the exclusive carriers for a new line of the X-back chairs, made here in America from quality wood choices including oak, maple and cherry.

Have you ever checked out HyperOptik Eyeglass Studio in Eastown?  They specialize in unique, edgy eye-wear. Some people love the trendy looks so much, they buy frames even though they don’t need glasses. Seriously. Head to Wealthy and check it out, Daryl Kamp will give you fantastic customer service.

The Common Table recently installed new display shelves for them. The shelves are made of 100% solid wood and fitted perfectly for HyperOptik’s shop. A Grand Rapids Table – the Common Table

Grand Rapids Table

Barb wanted a table that would complement her traditionally styled home in Grand Rapids, Michigan. A table that would last for ages and look as if it had always belonged.

Darryl from the Common Table used his popular Trestle Table design and enlarged it to make a 10-12 person table. Steel reinforcements under the table make for solid smooth bases for two extensions on each end.

The custom finish gave the table a hickory look to match the hand-scraped hickory floors in the home.

We delivered it on Monday just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Dining Tables – Michigan Made

Dining Table

One dining table at a time with hard work and smart design. The Common Table continues to work harder for you, giving you authentic American beauty out of rough wood, hard work and smart design.

Darryl is busy in the shop with a gorgeous trestle table. This style has been in demand! It takes hundreds of hours to make the table from start to finish.

Trestle Table Handmade

Much of the time is spent sanding the dining table top to give it the professional smooth finish we are known for.

Michigan Dining Table

This is a different set, another best seller French Country. It’s hard to believe that this started out as a pile of rough maple boards. After spending a few weeks in the Common Table workshop, the end result is a stunning French Country dining set. The customer chose X-Back chairs to complement the table. The finish is a dark walnut-colored stain with slightly distressed white  painted legs and skirt.

Eclectic Dining Room for a Crowd

Grand Rapids Table-makers

Our Grand Rapids Table-makers finished off a gorgeous ten-foot trestle and loaded it up for Detroit last weekend. Our clients chose a stained top with breadboard ends and a cottage-style finish on the trestle-base. Two matching trestle benches finished their order; they plan to put an eclectic mix of chairs together to complete this set of fine furniture. Darryl and Matt are looking satisfied with the final product, and maybe a little tired after moving it? It’s over 300 pounds!

Violet showed up in her boots and PJ’s, ready to work. A little table-artisan in the making.

Local hardwoods, local business, top quality, satisfied customers. It’s the Common Table.

This table was heavy and gorgeous, ready to serve crowds for years to come.

Cottage Table

Hot steaming cups of coffee, fluffy poofs of glazed wonder and sleepy conversation about the plan for the day…sound familiar? Yup, it’s summer vacation at a Michigan cottage.

This table set is headed for a Michigan cottage on a lake. It’s our French Country style, over-sized to fit summer visitors. Linda opted to have the table set painted white with pale yellow accents on the back of the X-Back Chair. The tabletop has grooves between the boards and breadboard ends to create a true cottage style.

We had to try it out and imagined for a minute that the sun, sand and lake-shore were just steps away :).

We’re proud to create Michigan products for Michigan folk, bringing quality and beauty to your homes and cottages.

See you at the lake-shore!
